Using Polls to Create Art #3

Click here to read the first and the second posts in the series.

While I don't normally post two drawing posts in a row, I wanted to share some more drawings connected to my last post. My body has been physically hurting recently, so it hurts to draw. Because of that I felt like I should post some of the drawings I did before my surgery.

In other news for this blog, I have a world-building post (for the Look Into the World series), which I am working on, and which I will post once I finish adjusting some parts of it and adding in some illustrations (after I feel better). Also, before my surgery, I entered in a world-building contest on World Anvil . You can read my entry here

And now, since the updates are done, on to the post:

I decided it would be fun to practice drawing in different styles, and the drawing style the voters wanted me to do was The Cursed Princess Club (which is a webcomic).
I ended up drawing Oak in that style, and I really like how she turned out in the end.

This is a drawing I did of the air god. The voters wanted me to draw him in his temple.
I really liked how it turned out in the end.

This was not a majority vote, but I thought it would be fun to draw Elm in the drawing style of the Cursed Princess Club as well.

The drawing above was also a majority vote. Voters asked for a drawing of Matilda in the style of Steven Universe.  I decided to take it a step further, though, and ended up drawing Matilda in all different types of drawing styles, just to see what she'd look like.

And finally, the drawing of Felix in the style of Tim Burton was kind of a majority vote (I say "kind of", because there wasn't really a winning vote on the poll). And  I just thought the drawing Matilda would be fun to do, even if it wasn't a majority vote.
I really like how they both turned out in the end.

It's My Blog's Anniversary! (+ Drawings)

Greetings Travelers,
Yesterday (March 9th) was my blog's anniversary, and while I will be doing more posts like this (videos of me drawing digitally) in the future, I thought I'd introduce this new style of post through my blog's anniversary.

You can also watch it here

In the last post I shared a drawing of Phoenix that I was thinking of turning into a water color. I ended up not doing that, because I was worried I'd mess up the drawing.
So I instead decided to color it digitally.

You can also watch it here

While I didn't include this drawing in the last post, I thought I would recolor the drawing of Annabelle (above) that I thankfully had taken a picture of because the drawing got messed up.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Which of the two drawings are your favorite? Have you done drawing digitally before? If so what software did you use?

Phoenix and Annabelle Get Interviewed For a Villainous Job

Hello everyone,

I didn't make a post for the holiday season last year (2020), but that was because I had this post planned which took a little longer than I intended for it to take. Instead of one video I planned to post two. And with filming and video editing, uploading and everything, it took a lot longer than oringally I assumed it would.

Ginny Di has done three POV videos  for Dungeons and Dragons character development: one that is a healer, one that is a matchmaker and one that is a villain. The videos are fun to watch, because they make you be in character and answer the questions in character, rather than answering the questions for your character. While these were originally intended for Dungeons and Dragons characters, I thought they would also work for the characters from my novels. Even though the villain video does mention a few Dungeons and Dragons terms it can still work really well in a Fantasy setting. So, I decided to use my two characters, Phoenix (from All is Not Lost For All Will Begin Again) and Annabelle (The Lady Annabelle mystery series), and make them react separately to being interviewed by a villain

Let's begin:

You can also watch it here

In Annabelle's interview, the events that she mentions happen in book two (the death of her fiance, etc.)

You can also watch it here

In Phoenix's interview, this is long before he is working for Reyvon, so he has no job and is desperate at this point.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Who should get the job? (Annabelle or Phoenix) and why? And of the two of them, which do you think would be a better villain?

A Look Into a World #1: Medical Magic (The Lady Annabelle Mystery series)

This series was inspired by Meri Greenleaf's awesome world-building posts

This is the beginning of a new blog series on the novels I am writing.

I'm still writing the Mystery of the Body Thief. My goal in the first draft was lay out the story. The second draft is going to be a little more centered on character development and world-building.

This blog series will also show you more of the worlds of other Fantasy stories I am writing (All is Not Lost for All Will Begin Again and Eyes in the Night). I will be featuring the religions, the magic, the history, and the different species of the worlds I create, and maybe some of the world's scientific discoveries.

Medical Magic in The Mystery of the Body Thief

                                                 The song that inspired this:

If one is to be a nurse or a doctor in Annabelle's world, it is much more time consuming for the student than in our world. This is because not only do you have to learn how the different parts of the body react to different magics and medicines, but you have to learn to devote yourself to one of the various nature gods and then learn nature magic, which also doubles as healing magic. The various gods that you may devote yourself to are the fire god, the air god, the earth god, or the water god. All have different ways of healing someone through magic that the student will have to master.

Because of this, nurses and doctors are kind of druid and witch like, and sometimes even someone you might turn to for spiritual help. People believe they can heal their body and soul. It is common that two doctors of different elements will work together, because they can heal the patient more thoroughly if the two elements are combined: like earth and water, or air and earth, or air and water, but never fire and water, because they would cancel each other out.

A lot of the training involves prayer to the god or goddess whom you have chosen to learn magic from, and looking through different spell books and delivering the sacred words.

                                                         Earth's healing abilities:

                       The Goddess of the earth.

Earth is very centered on grounding the body if the owner of the body doesn't feel like they have their feet firmly planted on the ground. The goddess also wants the person to feel the healing power of the woods and creeks. Another healing thing Earth does, is to help the patient realize they are part of the cycle of the world, and that they are not separate from the cycle. They can be one with animals and plants of the world.

Spell to invoke the goddess: I call upon the goddess of the earth, to give me strength and ground myself, tell me the secrets hidden deep in the ground, open my eyes to what I may have overlooked,
allow me to care for all the creatures of earth that you do, allow me to harm none. Give me knowledge to heal the wounded and the sick, goddess breathe life into the dying!

                                                            Fire's healing abilities:

The Fire god

Fire tends to do something very acupuncture like. The person who has the magic related to it, will touch the patient's body and temporarily heal them of the pain they have been feeling in that area. It only lasts twenty four hours or a little more, but it helps ease the pain of the patients.

Spell to invoke the fire god: Oh, ever changing fire god, I call upon you. Let your warmth heal the sick and those who feel cold, like those who are in pain feel energetic like your flickering flames,
let the body feel worth, let the injured be able to move again, let them feel energy flowing again!

                                                           Air's healing abilities:

The Air God

Air wants to help get the body to its higher (or divine) self. This also helps on the spiritual level of having the patient get more spirituality connected to the gods and the universe.

Spell to invoke the air god: Ever high up air god, let others reach your height. Let the injured and the sick feel your presense, breathe healing wind in their direction and send not the sickening winds, but the healing winds with (Nurse or doctor chanting this adds in what they want the god to send), give me your knowledge and wisdom, let me heal the sick, and let your winds come close to us!

                                                            Water's healing abilities:

The Water Goddess

Water makes the body feel more fluid and in the moment. If the patient is feeling like they are overwhelmed the water elemental has powers that will help them feel more like they can affect the world in positive ways.

Spell to invoke the goddess: I call upon the ever flowing water goddess, help me heal, help me heal others with your enchanting gaze, let knowledge of healing trickle onto my fingers, let it flow onto the sick and the injured, let the stuck flow like a running river, like them feel whole instead of empty!

Because of this, the religion of the world and the magic are intertwined, and while you don't always need to be a priest or a priestess to have magic, you do at least need to be devoted to a god or a goddess in your practice of it. And if you aren't you are frowned down upon by society.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Which god or goddess is your favorite of the ones I created? If you had a choice what element would you have the powers of?

Using Polls to Create Art #1

I wasn't feeling well one day, so I did a whole lot of drawings in order to make myself feel a little better, and because of that I thought it would be fun to challenge myself and draw my characters in different styles or doing different things than they would normally do. This is a little bit like the post I did previously, except that I'm using pre-created characters and asking what they should be doing instead of creating a totally new character.

Since NaNoWrimo has a thread dedicated to polls, I thought it would be fun to do polls that could produce drawing exercises for me. What I did was ask people to vote for which character I should draw, and then ask them what should happen in the drawing in a separate poll.

And these drawings are what came out of it (unless I say otherwise all of these were majority votes):

This is a drawing of Elm which I decided would be fun to draw in the Disney 2D animated style.
I really like how it turned out.

Since Annabelle detests dresses (for reasons that you will find out in the future),
I thought it would be interesting to draw her wearing one that appeared in my book.
Even though she really doesn't like it, I still like how it turned out.

Phoenix in 2D animated drawing  style, this time mimicking that of Tangled the Series

This is a drawing of Elm using her powers which are her singing abilities.
Her singing has magical attributes, which can cause the world around her
to dance, among other things.

**trigger warning: This drawing contains a bit of blood*
Since Halloween was soon...ish when I drew this, I had Detective Inspector Time investigating a creepy (and haunted) house.

                                                           **end of trigger warning**
This one was particularly hard because Annabelle is a morally gray character and turning her into a villain is difficult. Annabelle can be seen as either, and she is often seen as a threat by those around her. So instead of going full out evil villain, I turned her into an assassin instead.  She is a detective (in her story), so making her a murderer would be completely different.

Even though this was not the majority vote, I decided to draw Phoenix as a villain anyway. Interestingly enough, everything he would wear as a villain would be raven-themed. And he would have fun being a villain. Also, for some reason I imagine him stroking a raven or crow like most villains would a cat.

This drawing also helped me figure out what would cause Phoenix to go from a protagonist to an antagonist.

Someone at one point thought it would be neat to see Annabelle in Steampunk clothes.
So I ended up drawing her that way, even though it was not the top vote. And I have a feeling she would like the Steampunk outfit a lot better than she did the dress from earlier.

Which drawing is your favorite? What would your character(s) be like if they became a villain?

I Finished the First Draft of The Mystery of the Body Thief!

I just finished The Mystery of the Body Thief's First Draft!!

I had four different attempts in writing this series, before I came to one that actually worked. The previous attempts were: The Case of Confusion, The Mystery of the Stolen Crown, The Race Against Time and The Mystery of the Phantom of Dragonspire Court.

When I wrote The Mystery of the Body Thief I intended it at first to be the fifth book, but because the other books didn't end up working, it ended up being the first book. The Mystery of the Body Thief had the strongest plot and a coherent one, as well.  I believe this is the first successful mystery book I have ever written. However, in the first draft I sort of forgot to world-build, because I was much more focused on the mystery. So, just like any first story, it's not perfect. It can be improved through editing, rewriting, and world-building. (Which I will talk more about later, in this post).

During this NaNoWrimo,  I made the word count goal pretty high at first because I thought it would take a while to reach the end of the story. I ended up lowering the goal a bit, because otherwise I would have been forcing the story to go on for longer than it needed to be, and at that point I may have been just pouring out unneeded words.

Now onto what the story is about:

                                               (Images from wikipedia, https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Red_hair_in_art#/media/File:William_Strang_portrait_Cynthia_1917.jpg,
Drawn to Writing , and Pexels and Pixabay).

                               Synopsis

Genres: Fantasy | Murder Mystery with a bit of Adventure. Series: It is the first book in the Lady Annabelle Mystery Series.

Horatio wakes up from being in a coma, but he doesn't remember anything that happened before he fell into unconsciousness. All that he remembers is a name, "Annabelle!"

Also... Detective Inspector Time finds himself having to solve a case without Lady Annabelle.
Murders have been happening throughout many different kingdoms, and no one knows who exactly is behind it all.

Go here and here to read the two other posts I made about this novel.

                   Music for the world

You can also listen to it here

Since I made a playlist/soundtrack of music I listened to while writing my story, I thought I would post the playlist. This is where I get some of the inspiration for the world that I am at the moment working on, and that will show up in my future posts. 😉

What's Next for The Mystery of the Body Thief

I'm going to be working on the second draft, which is mainly going to be focused on world-building as the first draft was more focused on the plot, than the world itself. And because of that I intend to share some of my world-building process in a new series for this blog, A Look Into a World. It will be focusing on how the society works, the religions of the world work, and how the magic works. (Though in this world the magic and the religions are tied closely together, because the gods give people magic).

Also I gave two of my character's powers recently. I need to figure out more clearly what they actually do, and what gods they are connected to. (Basically who they'd be a devotee to). I also need to figure out Vonivera's powers, I know a little about them like she can turn invisible but I don't know much else. Vonivera was born with her powers, instead becoming a devotee to a god or goddess, while the other two characters have powers given to them from gods and goddesses. I also have a sorceresses character who I vaguely know the powers of, but I need to figure them out.

I also need to get to know the other main characters, as I seemed to be more in Annabelle's and Horatio's heads, than anyone else's. So I want to get to know them better, I already know at least one of them well at this point and that is Annabelle's father Lord Oberon. But everyone else I hope to know better through second drafting.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What type of magic system(s) do you have in your Fantasy world(s)? And in First drafting did you ever forget to world-build?

Quarantined Characters (Part One)

Since we are going to be quarantined for long a time. I decided I would make a series revolving around different characters being stuck at home. Not necessarily because of the same virus but because of something else in their world. Even though it is not talking about this quarantine, I am going to be calling it "Quarantined Characters." But, this won't just be talking about what the characters will do; it might also involve doing drawings, short stories, and stuff like that.
And since I have a lot of characters, some of them even in totally different genres from the others,
I am dividing this post up into parts.

Let's begin:

                                          Elm

Elm is a dryad and spirit of her tree. Because of this she would not be afraid about being stuck in it for a while. But what Elm would do if she were ever stuck in her tree would be to practice her singing and learn to play a musical instrument that some human had left behind.

                                Annabelle

Rules to Annabelle are more like guidlines anyway, so she would have difficulty following them strictly, especially since her father, Lord Oberon, would be so cautious about making sure she stays inside. He would be cautious perhaps to a ridiculous extent. And because of this, this would be Annabelle's first plan:

1. Disguise herself as man in order to be unrecognizable.
2. Grab her detective equipment, and bring it along with her.
3.  Tie her bedsheets together to get out through her window.
4. And finally once she is down, go solve homicides.

However, suppose she isn't able to escape the castle at this time, because something happens and she realizes it would be bad to try to escape* or Oberon reinforces the guarding of the castle.

She would instead respond to letters from people who had murder cases for her, and she would do this under the name of her detective alter ego

She would also in her spare time practice self defense, as she wouldn't want to be defenseless when the world is on edge, and it might be life threatening. Like everything she does, she would have to make sure she does it in secret, because a lot of people in the castle would consider it "unladylike."

*Because of the ongoing threat that caused everyone to have to stay inside. Not because she would ever want to stay in the castle like everyone wants her to.

                                           Ashalena

If she was stuck inside for a long period, Ashalena would spend her time drawing and sketching.
The things she would find most relaxing to draw during this time would be wildlife, nature, and landscapes, because even if she can't go out to see them, she would still like to imagine them.
She would send her drawings to people during that time, to brighten the mood of the situation. She also would include handwritten notes with the drawings she sent to them.

She would also pray to the gods that the threat (whether it be fires, flooding, illness, or monsters) would leave soon. Ashalena would ask the priests and priestesses through letters if the threat is at all an omen from the gods, and if so what it means, and what person angered the gods enough to cause it. If you are the empress of the country, or are going be the empress, you do have to talk to the gods or try to communicate with them, especially if the country depends deeply on it.

                                     Aurinda & Ichabod

Aurinda would probably end up getting stuck with Ichabod--yes, whether she likes it or not.
And since they already have a lot of problems on their hands, with ghosts like the The Headless Horseman, Aurinda would make sure that they had as many battle or escape strategies as possible, so they could make it out in one piece. She learned a lot from fighting in the American revolution. Meanwhile, Ichabod would be hanging up garlic in various places, as well as putting his other lucky charms everywhere. Given that Aurinda and Ichabod don't tend to always agree on everything (more often they don't agree about magic, and whether or not it is good or evil) they would probably be arguing with each other from time to time, which is not very good if there is a threat of death.

                                             Phoenix

If Phoenix was stuck inside he would cuddle under a blanket and write poetry. He would also write letters to his best friend, and ask how she is doing. He would work on improving his book of poetry that he wants to publish, editing and/or rewriting his poems while he is sitting in his room.
If anything, he would be doing a lot of writing to make his stress go away. (After all being stuck inside for a long period of time is stressful.)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What would your characters do if they were quarantined? Would they panic or would they remain calm?

Stories I am working on This May

Hello everyone,
I wanted to give you an update on The Silver Key (which I might make a blog post about soon), I reached my goal of 12,000 words:
(Image downloaded from Camp NaNoWrimo's winner page.)
Every month I rotate which novel I am writing (going back and forth between The Silver Key and The Mystery of the Body Thief), so I thought I would share what I am working on this May:

The Mystery of the Body Thief: Annabelle's Return
Just like Charles Dickens labels the parts in his stories, I am labeling mine, and calling it
Annabelle's Return because...
I finally got to the point in my story where Annabelle is awake!
She has lost her memory unfortunately, and she converted back to what she was like in book one. She is not willing to take risks, and sadly is acting like a "damsel in distress." However, that doesn't mean when she regains her memories she won't start taking risks and solving mysteries again.

New songs that remind me of the novel:

The Beauteous Maiden by Derek and Brandon Fiechter (with vocals)

You can also listen to it here
This song I could imagine playing in the background when Annabelle wakes up.

All Our Yesterdays by Blackmore's Night

You can also listen to it here
I think this is a perfect celebration song.

Nothin' New - Kalie Shorr

You can also listen to it here
I can't exactly say what part of the story this reminds me of, because of spoilers,
but it does have to deal with something rather large that is going to happen in the romance portion of the plot.

Blue and Gold (I don't know if this is the real title or not yet)

The inspiration for this story was Gulliver's Travels, which I am still reading. It had a huge impact on this novella, though it doesn't follow the exact same plot. My characters are travelling by boat, but instead of having islands represent dystopias, there is a sort of hidden dystopia that will be revealed in my novella.

All I can say at the moment is that these songs remind me of my novella:

Fight Like a Girl - Kalie Shorr

You can also listen to it here
**warning slightly strong language: usage of the word d*** ***
I can't say what part of the story this reminds me of because of possible spoilers,
but it reminds me of (I can say this without spoiling it) something the protagonists might like.
Hero by Heather Dale

You can also listen to it here
This song really reminds me of the protagonist's motive.

Fight Like a Girl written and performed by Kalie Shorr, Hailey Steele, and Lena Stone

You can listen to it here
**warning slightly strong language: usage of the word d*** ***
I love that this song has many singers singing it,
and I could imagine the protagonists singing this as a group.

Plotting The Silver Key
Even though I am not currently writing The Silver Key I have been plotting it out and working on the world building (which includes working on the mythology for it) and character development which so far has been successful.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What stories/novels/novellas are you working on this May?
Do you have any songs that remind you of your stories?

Mother's Day Drawings

Happy Mother's Day everyone! To celebrate I am posting some of my Mother's Day themed drawings:

Though Phoenix doesn't know who his mother is (and the readers don't know yet either),
I thought I would include this drawing of her, so you could get an idea of what she is like
(even if you don't know who she is exactly).

This is a drawing of Elm's mother. I like this one, because compared to the others, there is a background.

This is Annabelle's mother. You may not know her yet, since she hasn't really shown up in the books to this point. But I enjoyed drawing her.

Here are Tess and her mother (Gletta). I imagine that her mother would teach her the art of
swordplay after her adventure.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Before I leave you a question for the comments section, I have one final thought to say, which is that I have been trying to find a way for my characters to continue going on adventures after they are married and have children (since I know they probably will get married at some point in the series). So...
Which drawing is your favorite?
And, have you seen any examples of married couples in fiction who still go on adventures or missions?

My Characters make a post for my Blogiversary

Hello "blog" readers, this is Horatio and...

Phoenix and...

Lady Annabelle and...

Tess Short.

As you may have noticed, Quinley never has characters like us, make posts---

Oh, so we will have our own characters that we make up, write a "blog post" in their point of view??

That's actually not what I meant...but, as I was about to say, her dolls have posted before on her doll blog and to show we are equal to her dolls, we as main characters have decided to make one big blog post. We don't exactly know how to use a "computer"(something used by non-fictional people), so we are using a magical spell to write this, hence the reason each of us have different text colors when we speak. Also, if you are wondering why Lady Annabelle is able to talk, well, we used the spell to do that, unfortunately it doesn't work in my story--

Your story (that you're writing) has no magic in it?

No, it does. Why would you think I'm writing it? I'm the main character! Oh...never mind....

Hello again "blog" viewers. Getting to the point: we are making this post because Quinley's blog's anniversary is rolling around. We thought instead of her making a blog post for it, we, the main characters, would make the post...though I am still upset with her because my first book came to an end, and I was enjoying it so much. (Don't tell her.)

Well, you can write a new story then.

Phoenix that's not what I was talking about, never mind...

So, in the post we will talk about what the author has done to us, of course without spoiling the stories.Though that won't be too hard because we have no idea what will happen in the stories she hasn't finished. Unfortunately, the author is scary in that way.

You could just plot it, you know.

Phoenix!

What?

You sound like a writer!

I am...well, I am a poet, and do sometimes write short stories, but what?

You...you...anyway, let's get to the post.

The writer has a fellow main character offer you a chance to go on an adventure what do you do?

I actually, never had this happen to me, I was never offered go on an adventure. I was offered a chance to solve a mystery though...but that sort of just happened.

I tried to avoid it at all costs...but that sort of failed.

What?? Um...I am not sure how to answer this, first of all what do you mean by "fellow main character"? And what on earth!?

I...well, I...I think I must be dreaming, or something. But, I am not exactly sure how to answer this, I still think I'm dreaming...but an adventure sounds fun!

The writer threatens the life of your best friend, what do you do?

Yell at the author at random times, especially when they are doing random things like watching a "movie", taking a shower or bath, or trying to sleep. Once that happens, they probably won't hurt my friend.

Bother...I should have done that when she was writing the story. I probably should do that when she is writing Tess Short (Book Two), and then she wouldn't do awful things to my friends or uncle.

Uhh... I have had characters in my short stories and poems complain about this to me, but only for a short amount of time, but...what on earth is going on? Why would a fellow writer threaten my best friend?

Probably complain, or talk to the author if possible...but I think I am most definitely dreaming.

Author kills off a minor character you like?

Cry, and then complain.

Oh, I should have done this, but no one died, so there was no reason, but I assure you NEXT TIME I will.

If it adds to the plot then, it's fine, but you can't just kill off all the main characters in the first sentence or first chapter (if it is a novel) without a reason. Also, if it is a character I like and know well in the story, even minor, I would be upset. I'd probably talk to the person writing it, send a letter to them, perhaps, but character deaths can be sad for sure, and definitely worth crying over.

(Aside:

I think....the author did something to him

Me too)

Complain to the author, and demand they bring the minor character back to life!

Author gives you a love interest, but doesn't let you kiss them for the entire story?

It would be improper to kiss them, if we aren't married or engaged. But all the same, that is just unfair.

Ummm...I should probably add I am not old enough to start courting yet.

Love stories? Oh great, not love stories...kissing scenes can be so...disgusting.

That....would be awful for that character...

Author then gives you love interest but kills them off?

I do hope that never happens to me.

I'm still too young to court!

Tragic ending? Interesting... if both love interests die, well, that is the end to the love story. So yay!

(Aside:

Something is most definitely wrong with Phoenix...

Perhaps he was brainwashed.)

Oh, that would be awful for them...the character that is, the one who died.

Author decides to kill everyone off?

Alright, I just want to say that I do not want to know what the character after life is like. Particularly because I still want to have a happy ending to look forward to, that does not end in death.

I agree with Horatio, and really author, why does death have to be the end of the story?

Umm...if every character dies in the first chapter, without reason, it isn't really...um...well done, there has to be a reason for them to die.

First of all, that's awful, how could an author do such a horrible thing to their beloved characters!?

Are you happy about Adventure Await's Blogiversary?

Let me see, I suppose I am, since I wouldn't really be around in a way, if it weren't for the blog. Since I am around, the author can...do stuff to me in my story, but at least the post about the novel I am in got in "popular posts" on the sidebar.

Same...though I admit I should have talked to the author before my story ended. Well, guess I will have to bother her while she is going through editing.

Beg your pardon, but what on earth is this Adventure Awaits? And what is a "blogiversary"?

I admit, I agree with Tess and Horatio.

So, fellow characters, I hope you get to see how other characters have been treated by their author from this post...and how one of them seems to be very ignorant of the fact that there is an author. So for now, our magical connection is a tiny bit unstable, but...here are some "conversational questions" for the comments section.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is by far the worst thing your author has done to you?
And question from the real blog author: Would you like to see my characters make blog posts in the future?

Farewell!
-Horatio
-Tess
-Phoenix
-Lady Annabelle

P.S. (a note from (the real) blog author)

Character text colors:

Horatio's color is Light Blue

Phoenix's color is green

Tess's color is Purple

Lady Annabelle's color is Dark blue (Keep in mind that Annabelle is sort of unconscious at the moment, and lost her memory, so her answers may be different than usual.)

Wattys and Camp NaNoWrimo July 2018 project: The Mystery of The Body Thief (+ 100th post!)

Hi everyone, last April I made a post about this project so I thought that I should make another post about it considering I am still writing it and I entered it into a writing contest called the Wattys. (Also, this is my 100th post.)

Anyway, here is the post:

Synopsis-

Ever since Horatio woke up from being in a coma, things around the castle have been going from normal to strange.

He is also trying to solve a murder that now is beginning to seem more complex than he thought.

Characters-
Since I made a whole list of the characters before in my last post about this project, I am only going to do some of the main characters and not the minor ones.
                                                                  Horatio

A servant who works in the castle, who lost his memory.

Vonivera  (previously known as Veronica.)

Lady Annabelle's lady in waiting, and friend to Horatio and Phillip.
Unlike the other ladies in the castle, Vonivera is a fairy, and she finds it hard to fit in.

                                                                            Phillip

The captain of the guards and the only dwarf in the castle. Also
a friend of Annabelle's who is helping Horatio and Vonivera solve a recent murder.

                                                Detective Inspector Time & Marigold
From left to right, Detective Inspector Time, Marigold.

Two detectives who are trying to solve the recent murders of royalty.

                                                             Lady Annabelle

A princess who is in a coma, who fell unconscious at the same time as Horatio.

Excerpts-
Vonivera had very annoyed looking expression her face, that she normally had when she was talking about the gossipers and how they talked about Horatio, and the things he had done wrong.

“I am worrying about it, because I care about you, unlike everyone else in the castle.” she said.
-from Chapter 10, Vonivera to Horatio.

“Are you alright?” Vonivera asked.

“Yes…I’m fine..” Horatio said, as he picked up the burnt fire wood, and swept the chimney, which was sooty but not quite as sooty as it had been when he first cleaned it.

“Are you sure?” asked Vonivera, who like usual was hanging around where Horatio was working. She rather liked to talk to him…

“Yes I’m sure…” sighed Horatio, who rather was concentrated on cleaning the chimney…

“You don’t look sure…” said Vonivera.

Horatio sighed, “That’s because I’m cleaning the chimney!”
- from unidentified Chapter. (Though I am pretty sure it is after the events of chapter seven though, but I am unsure...since the labeling of the chapters got confused.)

You can also read the seven chapters that are up here (though I do plan to self-publish it eventually.)

the official story soundtrack-
Last time I posted songs that reminded me of the story. But now here is the official story soundtrack:

You can also listen to it here

Some of the songs in this are songs you have heard before in the previous post.

A sneak peek at future songs that will be added into the story soundtrack (playlist):

As The World Falls Down by David Bowie.

You can listen to it here
This song goes really well with a (romantic) ballroom scene in my book. ;)

Kiss and Break Up by Meghan Kabir

You can also listen to it here
This song went perfectly with a scene from my story.
(I am not going to say what scene though ;) )

Money, Money, Money by ABBA

You can also listen to it here
I am not sure whether this song will be added to the story soundtrack or a playlist describing one of my characters, but either way it still reminds me of what the servants may think of royalty and money.

Have you ever entered your book into the Wattys? Also, how was your Camp NaNoWrimo?

Love,
Quinley
