About the Author

(The two characters I'm dressed up as in this photo are Phoenix (left) and Princess Arisias (right).)

Greetings travelers: I'm Quinley, but you can call me "Q"! I am a writer, actor, artist, animator (I do hand-drawn and stop motion animation), photographer, blogger, and singer.

I thought it was about time to rewrite my "About the Author" page but I wasn't sure how because I am not particularly good at talking about myself; I am much better at talking about my stories and characters. I don't generally like talking about myself (which is why I avoided rewriting this page), so I decided to talk about my experience with the many different things I do, rather than about myself directly.

If I were a D&D character I would be an elf and multi-class as a bard and a ranger. If I were a Fantasy creature it would depend on what world I was living in: I would be an elf if I lived in Middle Earth, but I might be a shapeshifter elsewhere. If I lived in the universe of Star Trek, I would be a former Borg drone (like Seven of Nine), and I would either work as an engineer or as a medical officer. If I were to be at Camp Half Blood, my godly parent would either be Athena or Apollo, and I would be a hunter of Artemis.

I have been drawing ever since I was little, and once my books get published I want to illustrate them. The things I tend to draw are my own characters, but I also like drawing characters from books and movies. I also do animation, and I have a short (animated) film that I am working on called Pandora's Box, which is a retelling of the Greek myth.  I hope to get people more interested in studying Greek mythology.

The genres I tend to write in are: Fantasy, Murder Mystery, Gothic, Ghost Stories, Historical Fiction, Science Fiction, Adventure, and sometimes Romance and Fan fiction, though out of those I tend to write Fantasy and Gothic the most. I also like to combine genres when writing, which is one of the reasons I am writing a Fantasy murder mystery series.

I have several novels going on at present: some I'm writing, some I'm editing, and others I am plotting. I tend to alternate between them each month. The first (short) stories I ever wrote were about a monster stealing a girl's bed and the girl having to deal with it. I also wrote a retelling of "Snow White," where Snow White doesn't end up marrying the prince at the end but instead remains single.

I do acting (Shakespearian and Contemporary) and theatre, and I want to open my own film company one day, where I hope to act in and direct my own films. My favorite part of acting is the characters; I love getting into someone else's head and trying to figure out why they think the way they do. I also love getting a chance to get up on stage or on camera, and dress up as as a character because I feel it helps me to embody them. The person who inspired me to take acting seriously as a career path was Gates McFadden, who played Dr. Crusher.

Here are some of the characters I have represented on my YouTube channel. (This part will be updated periodically):

I am also a songwriter and singer, and I love writing songs from the point of view of different characters. I also like writing songs about gods and goddesses and about different fairy tales.
And I even write songs from the point of view of my own characters. I view singing as another form of acting, and because of that, I love finding songs to sing that remind me of a character I'm playing or a character I'm creating.

Music that inspires me-
I was going to include a list of all the singers who inspire my writing, songwriting, and other projects, but I realized there were too many, and if I only mentioned a few I would be leaving some out. So instead, I compiled a playlist of songs by these singers/bands that have inspired my projects...

That's all for now. Now that you've learned about me, I would love to know about you. Feel free to comment facts about yourself in the comment section as I would love to get to know you too.

  2. Wow! I just watched your Hamlet and gained a new appreciation for Shakespeare's timeless relevancy. Nice and effective delivery, even with the dramatic pause your sword scabbard gave us! thanks for sharing. I would like to see the stop-motion stories you made if you have them?
