My Art from Inktober 2023 (Part Three)

Hi everyone, 

I have been very busy recently, and because of that I forgot to blog. So, I am going to break the silence with the last part of my Inktober series for last year. I had intended to post it earlier, however I forgot to take the last photos. 

 Here's the official prompt list: 

#21 Chains. I drew Oak with chain-like jewelry on her neck and arm. 

#22 Scratchy. I drew a cat since they are known to scratch things. 

#23 Celestial. Arisias gets a part of her powers from the goddess of the moon, Salissah. So, because of this, I felt like drawing her with the night sky behind her. 

#24 Shallow. I took this to mean shallow water and drew two ducks I had taken a picture of near water.

#25 Dangerous. I decided to draw a witch's secret hideaway. 

#24 Remove. I decided to draw a Halloween drawing of carving a pumpkin.  

#25 Beast. I decided to draw a sea monster. 

Due to the fact that I forgot to write down the prompts, I forgot which days each of these were for:

 However, the prompts are Sparkle, Massive and Rush, so you can try to determine which is which, since I'm not entirely sure. 

#31 Fire. And finally fire. I watched The Wicker Man (1973) for the first time last Halloween, and felt like drawing the Wickerman burning.

My Art from The February Faces Challenge (2023) | Part Three

Here is the final part of The February Faces Challenge. It was a fun challenge and I am glad I did it. I think I will do it again next year, since it helped me draw more of my characters. 

  Here is the official (optional) prompt list: 

Day #19 Eyewear, Ocean Guy adjusting his glasses.

Day #20 Cheeky, I didn't do cheeky in the traditional sense. I instead drew Matilda from Dolls of Wax, Eyes of Glass feeling embarrassed. And I drew attention attention to the blush in her cheeks.  

Day #21 Thoughtful, I decided to draw Marigold. She's a character from The Mystery of the Body Thief my fantasy/murder mystery, and I decided to give her an outfit redesign. 

Day #22 bald, I drew Picard from Star Trek: The Next Generation as he was the first character that came to mind with the prompt bald. 

If anyone is wondering, I haven't seen the new show Picard. I am disappointed in what I've heard of it. It appears to have gone dark and grim, when instead I feel as if it should be optimistic like Star Trek usually is. In my opinion, they should have gone in the direction that the Leverage reunion show did, which was to have a light-hearted (and similar) take on the characters coming back together. Otherwise, it feels like Star Trek discounts Picard's character arc, that was brought on in particular by Q in "Tapestry." 

Day #23 on the telly, I decided to draw a news show, that would appear in the world of my super hero characters, airing a story of about a villain covering the city in slime. 

Day #24 hat/headwear, this is a drawing my character when she became the Mother the Elements. I picture this to be when she was younger and had found her purpose as a goddess. This is a drawing of the moment when she is about to put her circlet on her head. 

Day #25 old, I drew Elvin the Silver, a wizard Dungeons & Dragons character of mine. 

He was inspired by Gandalf from Lord of the Rings. 

Day #26 Silly Face, This is another Dungeons & Dragons character of mine, Jinx. I figured this would be a face he would make if he saw something insane happen in one of the campaigns. 

(Which does happen most of the time, whether he does it or another player's character does).

Day #27 self portrait, because I didn't feel like drawing myself (I did though enter in a self portrait contest last year, so I am not entirely against drawing myself), I felt like drawing one of my characters holding a self portrait of themselves. So, I drew Gaia, a Tiefling, holding a portrait of herself that I drew in 2020. Combining new art with old art. 

Day #28 sleeping, I drew Kira for this one. On her bed is her phone which is playing an audiobook, and the portal to fairyland is open.

Miscellaneous Drawings #6

 Happy beginning of December, everyone. 

I thought I would start December off by sharing some old and new art. 

I did a redraw and slight redesign of an old goddess I came up with, who I am now going to use in Arisias's world. Fiáina is the goddess of nature and defender of nature, she fights against poachers.

She also lost her right arm in battle, and wears a prosthetic arm, that she carved out of wood. 

 The elves protect nature for the most part, and hunting is frowned upon.

Here is the original drawing that I reworked above. 

A portrait of Ophelia, I really like how it turned out. 

This was an attempt at drawing Fevvers from Nights at the Circus by Angela Carter. I like how her face turned out, but I feel that her wings don't look like bird's wings. 

This is a character I haven't really introduced yet, named Kira. She is a realm traveler from the real-world to fantasy worlds. I may have her exploring some of my characters' worlds in the future. 

I just got back into Death in Paradise, and decided to draw one of my favorite characters from it, Camille. 

And lastly, I drew the Greek Goddess, Athena. It was fun to draw her again. It's been a while since I drew her.

My Art from Inktober 2021 (Part One)

   I normally don't post two drawing posts in a row, but I recently found out about Inktober, and have been participating in it, and I wanted to share what I have been drawing. If you don't know what Inktober is, here is the link to their official website. 

To me, it's like NaNoWrimo but instead for artists, to use to draw more. I already draw a lot (as you may already know), but I like giving myself challenges. (Hence the reason I made the Using Polls to Create Art series.) So this seemed right up my alley! Also, I wanted to learn how to draw in a different medium with COPIC markers, so I am using Inktober to help me practice using them. 

 I intend to share with you each ten drawings that I draw (with eleven being the last one), so that it will be divided up into segments (for all the thirty-one drawings), so you don't get all thirty-one all at once. 

                                         Here's the prompt list for Inktober this year: 

And here are the first ten drawings of mine (some of them are Halloween-y, but that is because I am very excited for Halloween, so that influenced my drawings)...

Day #1 Crystal. I decided to draw the Crystal from The Dark Crystal. 

The character you see behind the crystal is Kira, she is a Gelfing and one of the movie's protagonists. The hands you see reaching towards the crystal are supposed to be Kira (left) and Jen (Jen being the one holding the crystal shard (right)).  I also decided it would be fun and mystical to add mist around Kira and the crystal.

Day #2  Suit. I drew Oscar Wilde. I don't know why my mind went to Oscar Wilde from the word "suit," but it did. It's probably because he is one of my favorite Gothic writers. I had a bit of trouble drawing his arms, since I was finding it difficult to figure out where it connected.  

Day #3 Vessel, my first thought was a spirit using a human as a vessel for possession.  I feel like I am probably going to (eventually) write a story about this person and spirit. 😉

Day #4 Knot, I decided to draw a Celtic knot. This made me realize how hard drawing Celtic knots is, but I am happy with how it turned out. 

Day #5 Raven, This prompt reminds me very strongly of "The Raven" by Edgar Allan Poe. 

So I drew something inspired by that. 

Day #6 spirit, This is the same spirit you saw possessing the person earlier, I was inspired by this cover of "Remains of the Day" (from Tim Burton's Corpse Bride) and just decided to delve into her backstory a bit. She was going to get married, but then she died, and possessed the character you see for the prompt Vessel (who was also getting married, and possibly, the ghost could have caused the wedding to happen, so that she could have that experience that she lost.)  Her plan goes as well as you can expect a possession to go...

Day #7 Fan, I wasn't sure what to draw at first but then I decided it would be fun to draw one of my characters holding a fan. I decided to draw Ophelia from The Mystery of the Body Thief fanning herself while she is at ball. This drawing is mixed media, because I used a mix of ink and water color.  

Day #8 Watch, I interpreted this prompt as a verb, as in "being watched." So I drew what could be a mermaid looking at you. This was another mixed media drawing I used the same materials as the one before. (Also this was partly inspired by Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Ginny Di's Songs to Drown Sailors To). 

Day #9 Pressure, Crime and Punishment was the first idea that came to my mind, this may be due to the fact that I am reading it right now. All of I could think of was the pressure Raskolnikov put on himself. 

Day #10 Pick, a lock pick. I drew my D&D character Jinx, he is a rogue and knows how to pick locks (and pockets). I had to redraw this one, because I messed up the coloring of the previous one. This also made me realize I should practice on working on foreshortening in figure drawing, since I had difficulty with the arms again.
