Tess Short story chapter 4

Chapter 4: the one eyed ones

As they traveled , Tess did not complain it was so nice out, if this was what  adventure was like why didn’t everyone go on one? And why did Hobbits always complain about them?  while Tess was enjoying herself she did not know she and her friends where being fellowed by a spy! It was lurking in the bushes watching the questers…”Do you feel like someone is watching us?” asked Robin, stopping the horses. Inny looked behind her, and shrugged. “Well…it doesn’t look like anybody is fellowing us, Maybe your elf ability to reading minds is umm…not working the way it should” said Inny. “Of course it’s working” said Robin. “Why wouldn’t it work?” he said. “I can hear your thoughts right now” said Robin. “Robin…you have no need to get worked up about this” said Tess, stopping the argument between Robin and Inny. “And what dangerous beings will we meet on this adventure?” asked Tess, trying to sound as adventurous as possible. Robin looked at her then said, “Dragons….trolls, mountain trolls, gains, goblins and a lot of other creatures” said Robin. “Oh and did you bring a weapon? you will need it” said Robin. Tess reached into her bag, yes it was still there but it was probably more useful to roll out dough and make cookies rather then fighting monsters. “Yes I brought a weapon with me…” said Tess. what if she told Robin it was a rolling pin, would he laugh? do elves laugh? she was a elf, but she mean’t a elf that wasn’t part Hobbit…but what if he thought she wasn’t cut out for the adventure? “It’s a dagger” she lied. “My father’s dagger!” she added. “Daggers are very useful” said Robin. “I’m glad you brought one with you”. The group was quite for a little..only the sound of birds was heard
Tess wondered weather Robin had read her thoughts and knew if she had brought a Rolling pin. But he seemed to think she had brought a Dagger. The brave adventurers traveled far..through the country side.
the wind blew through Tess’s hair. the birds chirped…why would she need a weapon anyway? there seemed to be no danger at all! But Robin kept looking as if he was worried someone was watching him. “Is everything alright Robin?” asked Tess. “I am unsure, I feel as if someone is watching us…” said Robin. “I feel the same way” said Tess almost in a whisper. As the sun-setted the questers set up the camp for the night, Inny got the fire-wood, Tess was told to keep the horses safe, and Robin took the first watch…It was a very silent night and a cold one too, Tess stayed as close to the fire as she could (Without singeing her hair)
the fire flickered once or twice, Tess felt her eyes closing, she would wait for Robin to tell her it was her turn, she drifted off into a deep sleep.
And was whisked off into a dream…
Fog..surrounded her…were was she? where ever she was (Or wasn’t it was a dream wasn’t it?) it didn’t seem good, at all. Bushes near by where bear…thorns covered them, Tess couldn’t tell what color they where…but they looked black. there was a path that seemed to lead to nowhere…she couldn’t really stop herself but she fellowed it, her legs seemed to be moving on there own…tried as she might she couldn’t stop herself, the path was endless as if seemed, but her feet kept moving…voices where everywhere..she couldn’t quite make them out only a few words “Immortality” and “Elves”. she didn’t quite know what that mean’t…
suddenly out of the darkness a bright light shone, Tess let out a shriek….

Tess’s eyes opened she sat up , “Tess are you alright?” asked Robin, he wasn’t quite sure what had happened to Tess she looked as if she seen a ghost, though he could read thoughts,he felt Tess was blocking him from reading hers. “Yes…fine” said Tess, from the look in her eyes she looked very scared. “Robin, I can take the next watch for you” said Tess. “I have had a enough sleep for tonight anyway”. “Alright…be my guest” said Robin. Robin sat and thought, Tess seemed to hiding something from him, but what? But why would she be hiding something, couldn’t she trust them? wasn’t he a trusting person er.. elf?
“ROBIN!” said Inny, “Yes?” he asked. “The Hobbit is missing” said Inny. “The Hobbit? we brought a hal-“ began Robin.  “Half Hobbit, I know but she is gone” said Inny. “We’d better search for her” said Robin. “I’l got that way you go-“ began Robin, “Robin, there are only two of us. one could get lost….or worse” said Inny. “Two of us and a horse” Robin corrected Inny. “Robin! I know your horse can talk but…we need to find Tess” said Inny, “I know…we better go now, you never know where Tess could’v ended up” said Robin. Robin took one direction and Inny took another, they planed that they would meet back at the Big Oak tree.
Robin walked down the road calling out Tess’s name, there was no-reply unfortunately only the still silence of the night. “Tess!” he called, his voice echoed. Tess seemed to be gone or worse….As he walked he was busy calling tess’s name that he didn’t watch where he was going and tripped over something hard…he looked up, something was starring at him , with brown eyes and was covered with lot’s of white fluffy fuzz. And it was quite large, “A GAINT SHEEP!” screamed Robin. “Who goes there?” asked a voice, it was deep and angry. Robin ducked under the sheep. what else was he to do? a huge man with one eye , came up, “Well…it seems like nothing, Only the sheep.” said The one eyed man. “Come on…how should we bake this Hobbit ..elf…halfling thing?” said anther one eyed man. Robin watched from behind the sheep and saw Tess, she hardly seemed to be breathing, and she was pale too, “Should we eat her raw?” , “No…look at her feet , would you want to eat that raw they look stinky” said The one-eyed man. “Maybe we should bake her on the pan, and scramble her” the other one said. Robin thought those ideas sounded well…disgusting. he had to get Inny and tell her,but he couldn’t leave Tess. But he had to do something , he couldn’t leave Tess to be eaten. Then a idea hit him, he climbed from to under the sheep. “Hello” he said, trying to sound as brave as possible. “What are you cooking?” he asked. “Oh a Elf…er Hobbit elf halfling..thing. But we can’t figure out how to cook it” said the One eyed man, who Robin recognized as a cyclops. “Well…umm…I recommend..putting her in a sake and then leaving her next to the tree, and come back in a matter of hours” said Robin. “Then she will be ready to eat” he added.  The cyclops agreed through they didn’t know what they where going to be getting into…They left and hoped this strange elf would cook there dinner for them. when they left Robin went up to Tess he hoped she wasn’t dead, “Tess?” he asked. “Oh and what is your name?” asked The cyclops coming around the corner, “Tess!” said Robin not noticing the cyclops. “Tess..that’s a interesting name, I will eat you after I eat that thing…” said the cyclops pointing to the real Tess. “Now he’s going to eat me” mumbled Robin. “Tess?” asked Robin, Tess hardly seemed to be moving.  “Please wake up, where having Elevenses” said Robin. Tess don’t move. Maybe some elvish healing herbs could help , he had brought some with him just in case. First thing he did was to get Tess out of the sack , then rubbed of the herbs on the stretches, then murmured  a spell in elvish , the stretches on her skin despaired. Very slowly her eyes opened , “Robin!?” she said out of surprise. “I had a dream that clyopes where planning on eating me” said Tess. “They are and we’d better go now!” said Robin, taking tess by the hand and running as fast as he could. “Why hello Tess, you didn’t prepare my meal did you” asked the giant cyclopes. “I don-“ began Tess, but Robin Interrupted her “The Meal is not ready” Lied Robin. “Please come back in a few more hours” said Robin. The cyclops laughed a deep , roaring laugh that echoed across the country side, surprising serval birds.
“How about we eat this elf and this uhh..thing raw” said The cyclops. Robin gulped, “ cyclops what is that over there?!” asked Robin, pointing his figure…off into the bushes, “What? I don’t see anything” said the clyopes leaning over, Robin took a big leap and landed feet first on the cyclops. the cyclops weakest spot was it’s eye..many people had done it before, Robin reached for the hilt of his sword, but wasn’t sure wouldn’t it be unfair to do it to him. But he was trying to eat his friend Tess, Tess was gesturing stab in, But Robin felt sweat go down his neck, what would he do? he hated to see any creature suffer , the cyclops was feeling around for Robin trying wack him with his club. Robin jumped here and there trying to not get hit , he had his sword out. “I’l get you, Tess” the cyclops shouted. few cyclops passed by and heard the cyclops crying “Tess is hurting me”. “Who is Tess…” asked a cyclops. “do you know anybody named Tess?” the other one asked. “No but we’d better eat dinner” said the cyclops, and left. The cyclops kept letting out wails , and screams…but no cyclopes came for aid they just thought he was in a very angry (Don’t bother him) Kind of mood. Tess was trying to district the cyclops as well as she could, But Robin was laying helpless on the cyclops, well hanging onto his arm , he wasn’t sure what to do…he had lost his chance to stab the cyclops , but seeing the sight of blood made him feel sick. but he had almost eaten his friend and probably had eaten serval other people. But was it the right thing? “Robin , do something” said Tess. he knew he had to do something…but what the cyclops was still trying to hit the little person on him (Which of course was Robin). With that club, unless Robin could manage to get the cyclops to hit himself! Robin climbed onto the top of the cyclops arm, and shouted “ cyclops come and get me” he said, jumping from the cyclops left arm to his right, then to his head to his arm and so on…the cyclops was busy trying to hit that little person who was climbing cyclops him…”Come and get me!” shouted Robin again. Jumped into the cyclops head again, the cyclops was very angry by now he lifted up his club , Robin jumped down , and the club landed down on the cyclops head….he rocked side to side…”We have to leave now!” said Robin, Running as fast as his feet could carry them , Tess was tripping over her own feet trying to keep up…”Slow down!” she shouted. ”Oh Tess, Sorry!” he sad, running back, grabbing her and running as fast as he could, as the cyclops fell down on the ground when he fell the whole ground shook and dust was kicked up. “Are you alright?” asked Robin. “Yes fine” said Tess, who was rather dazed. “Are you sure?” asked Robin. “Positive..now we’d better find Inny” said Tess.
“She’s probably back at the big oak tree” said Robin. “Here I can take you there” he said.
When they got there they found Inny staring down at her feet, her long black hair covering her face. she was crying. “I lost Tess, I lost the half Hobbit!” she wailed. “I’m probably the worst person I mean hag who was ever lived” she cried. Robin stepped up to her, “Inny don’t worry I found her” he said. Inny looked up, her eyes where red from crying . “you did?” she asked, hopefully. Tess came forward. “I’m sorry about what I said about Hobbits” Inny cried, and brought Tess into a rather tight hug, “It’s alright, Inny.” said Tess. “But a can’t breath!!” she said. “Oh sorry” said Inny, who let go of Tess. “But what happened?” asked Inny. Tess took a deep breath and said “when it was my turn to take watch , you to a believe where falling asleep” there was a pause , did Robin sleep at all? she continued “I thought I should get some fresh air…so I went took a short walk and unexpectedly a giant one-eyed man came up to me, and grabbed me by the foot…then everything went black”. “That’s all I remember” she said, through she sounded calm Robin knew she was scared…

Later that night no one slept a wink, everyone sat starring at each other  , hardly saying a word, or just starring into the fire…The Night passed slowly…
