My Characters make a post for my Blogiversary
Hello "blog" readers, this is Horatio and...
Phoenix and...
Lady Annabelle and...
Tess Short.
As you may have noticed, Quinley never has characters like us, make posts---
Oh, so we will have our own characters that we make up, write a "blog post" in their point of view??
That's actually not what I meant...but, as I was about to say, her dolls have posted before on her doll blog and to show we are equal to her dolls, we as main characters have decided to make one big blog post. We don't exactly know how to use a "computer"(something used by non-fictional people), so we are using a magical spell to write this, hence the reason each of us have different text colors when we speak. Also, if you are wondering why Lady Annabelle is able to talk, well, we used the spell to do that, unfortunately it doesn't work in my story--
Your story (that you're writing) has no magic in it?
No, it does. Why would you think I'm writing it? I'm the main character! Oh...never mind....
Hello again "blog" viewers. Getting to the point: we are making this post because Quinley's blog's anniversary is rolling around. We thought instead of her making a blog post for it, we, the main characters, would make the post...though I am still upset with her because my first book came to an end, and I was enjoying it so much. (Don't tell her.)
Well, you can write a new story then.
Phoenix that's not what I was talking about, never mind...
So, in the post we will talk about what the author has done to us, of course without spoiling the stories.Though that won't be too hard because we have no idea what will happen in the stories she hasn't finished. Unfortunately, the author is scary in that way.
You could just plot it, you know.
Phoenix!
What?
You sound like a writer!
I am...well, I am a poet, and do sometimes write short stories, but what?
You...you...anyway, let's get to the post.
The writer has a fellow main character offer you a chance to go on an adventure what do you do?
I actually, never had this happen to me, I was never offered go on an adventure. I was offered a chance to solve a mystery though...but that sort of just happened.
I tried to avoid it at all costs...but that sort of failed.
What?? Um...I am not sure how to answer this, first of all what do you mean by "fellow main character"? And what on earth!?
I...well, I...I think I must be dreaming, or something. But, I am not exactly sure how to answer this, I still think I'm dreaming...but an adventure sounds fun!
The writer threatens the life of your best friend, what do you do?
Yell at the author at random times, especially when they are doing random things like watching a "movie", taking a shower or bath, or trying to sleep. Once that happens, they probably won't hurt my friend.
Bother...I should have done that when she was writing the story. I probably should do that when she is writing Tess Short (Book Two), and then she wouldn't do awful things to my friends or uncle.
Uhh... I have had characters in my short stories and poems complain about this to me, but only for a short amount of time, but...what on earth is going on? Why would a fellow writer threaten my best friend?
Probably complain, or talk to the author if possible...but I think I am most definitely dreaming.
Author kills off a minor character you like?
Cry, and then complain.
Oh, I should have done this, but no one died, so there was no reason, but I assure you NEXT TIME I will.
If it adds to the plot then, it's fine, but you can't just kill off all the main characters in the first sentence or first chapter (if it is a novel) without a reason. Also, if it is a character I like and know well in the story, even minor, I would be upset. I'd probably talk to the person writing it, send a letter to them, perhaps, but character deaths can be sad for sure, and definitely worth crying over.
(Aside:
I think....the author did something to him
Me too)
Complain to the author, and demand they bring the minor character back to life!
Author gives you a love interest, but doesn't let you kiss them for the entire story?
It would be improper to kiss them, if we aren't married or engaged. But all the same, that is just unfair.
Ummm...I should probably add I am not old enough to start courting yet.
Love stories? Oh great, not love stories...kissing scenes can be so...disgusting.
That....would be awful for that character...
Author then gives you love interest but kills them off?
I do hope that never happens to me.
I'm still too young to court!
Tragic ending? Interesting... if both love interests die, well, that is the end to the love story. So yay!
(Aside:
Something is most definitely wrong with Phoenix...
Perhaps he was brainwashed.)
Oh, that would be awful for them...the character that is, the one who died.
Author decides to kill everyone off?
Alright, I just want to say that I do not want to know what the character after life is like. Particularly because I still want to have a happy ending to look forward to, that does not end in death.
I agree with Horatio, and really author, why does death have to be the end of the story?
Umm...if every character dies in the first chapter, without reason, it isn't really...um...well done, there has to be a reason for them to die.
First of all, that's awful, how could an author do such a horrible thing to their beloved characters!?
Are you happy about Adventure Await's Blogiversary?
Let me see, I suppose I am, since I wouldn't really be around in a way, if it weren't for the blog. Since I am around, the author can...do stuff to me in my story, but at least the post about the novel I am in got in "popular posts" on the sidebar.
Same...though I admit I should have talked to the author before my story ended. Well, guess I will have to bother her while she is going through editing.
Beg your pardon, but what on earth is this Adventure Awaits? And what is a "blogiversary"?
I admit, I agree with Tess and Horatio.
So, fellow characters, I hope you get to see how other characters have been treated by their author from this post...and how one of them seems to be very ignorant of the fact that there is an author. So for now, our magical connection is a tiny bit unstable, but...here are some "conversational questions" for the comments section.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is by far the worst thing your author has done to you?
And question from the real blog author: Would you like to see my characters make blog posts in the future?
Farewell!
-Horatio
-Tess
-Phoenix
-Lady Annabelle
P.S. (a note from (the real) blog author)
Character text colors:
Horatio's color is Light Blue
Phoenix's color is green
Tess's color is Purple
Lady Annabelle's color is Dark blue (Keep in mind that Annabelle is sort of unconscious at the moment, and lost her memory, so her answers may be different than usual.)

My Plotting Progress (part 1): The Silver Key
Hello everyone!
Ever since I finished Tess Short (book one), I thought I should make a post about the novel that I have been plotting and what I have so far...so let's begin:
The inspiration for my story was Doctor Who, though I admit I have never watched the show. I like the fact that the character dies and then comes back in a different body and has a different personality and yet is the same character and is aware that this is all happening. So, instead of one character, I decided to do this with all the characters, and make them aware of it, thus...All is Not Lost For All Will Begin Again was created.
Synopsis (what I have of it so far)-
(First book in the series (though it is not the first in the time line for the world) All is Not Lost For All Will Begin Again)
At the age of twenty every young man and woman finds out what they were in a past incarnation.
Phoenix has reached that age, and is interested in finding out what lies ahead...
The Main characters-
Phoenix
Phoenix is an orphan, who wants to promote change for the orphans through his poetry.
(I'm currently trying to find a good name for her)
Her father is a martial artist and she was trained in self-defense by him.
Princess Ashalena
A princess who is rather upset that her parents are not
focusing on the orphan problem that looms over the kingdom.
(Another nameless character)
I don't know much about him yet, all I know is that Phoenix met him one way or another.
And that he has some secrets that will be revealed later in the book.
One distinct characteristic about him, is that he loves food, compared to Phoenix, who,
does not like it...at all.
The Gods and Goddesses-
One of my favorite things about this novel is creating the mythology for the world. I thought I would introduce you to the gods and goddesses I came up with (most of the gods or goddesses are loosely inspired by Greek, Egyptian, and Norse mythology, and I will mention what inspired them):
The creator goddess
The creator of the world and the people in it and the queen of the gods,
and later creator of reincarnation.
She is known by many names, but people (the mortals that is) call her "the queen of the gods" or
"the creator" or "all powerful." She is known for creating the world and the people in it. She pitied them for dying and not being able to finish all they wanted to, and because of this created reincarnation.
However, no mortal has exactly seen what she looks like, no one has seen her face. All they've seen is silvery white hair, and that is why it is one of most recognizable features, and was in fact given to mortals of high class.
(Since in most mythologies I have read there is a king of the gods who oversees everything, there is never a queen of the gods who oversees anything, so I thought why not change it and have there be a queen of the gods in this world's mythology).
Nisis/Nyro the goddess/god of
love, beauty, marriage (both female and male sides of marriage), etc.
The only reason there is a drawing of them is because one of my characters just so happened to see them in this form. Their symbol is two snakes intertwined,
which is similar to Hermes's Caduceus but not on a wand. The fact that they can shape shift between male and female was inspired by the myth of Tiresias, who hit two snakes who were mating and got changed into a woman by the goddess Hera as a curse. After seven years, he was able to turn back from being a woman by trampling on two mating snakes. (In some versions he leaves the snakes alone and remains a woman.) The female version of this god's name (Nisis) was also derived from the Egyptian goddess Isis's name. Isis was also the creator of the cobra.
The King and Queen of the sea
The god and goddess of the ocean,
marine animals, sailors, etc.
They are the rulers of the sea.
(Inspired by Greek mythology's Poseidon)
I have still more gods and goddesses that I am working on that will be posted in later posts about this novel.
My characters' casting choices-
A habit of my characters is to decide that they look like an actor or an actress. I thought I should mention it in one of my posts since it never really gets mentioned in the other posts about my novels:
Eddie Redmayne as Phoenix
(image from Rotten Tomatoes, https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/fantastic_beasts_and_where_to_find_them#&gid=1&pid=n-1382982) |
I knew from the start that Phoenix looked like Eddie Redmayne. Surprisingly, the moment I began writing the beginning of the first chapter Phoenix independently decided he looked like him, too. This rarely happens since my characters usually decide they look like an actor or actress when I am in the middle of the story or series.
(The actor Eddie Redmayne has acted in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Les Misérables, and several other movies)
Sara Martins as (my currently un-named character)
Once again, this character also decided right away what she looked like.
(The actress Sara Martins has acted in Death in Paradise and some movies.)
Linda Park as Princess Ashalena
Princess Ashelena also surprised me (yet again) by deciding that she looked like Linda Park.
(The actress Linda Park has acted in Star Trek: Enterprise and Jurassic Park III and several other movies.)
In later posts about this novel, I plan to do photo edits of the actors/actresses as the characters.
The world-
I don't have much information about the world figured out yet, other than that what I wrote in the Synopsis. So far humans and fairies, and possibly other different creatures live in this world.
And there are thirty-two hours in a day, which makes the world run on a (modulo) 16 clock. Not just the clock is different but the world rotates more slowly than ours, so there are eight more hours than our world's clock. I don't exactly have the clothes figured out yet, at least for that particular time period in the All Is Not Lost For All Will Begin Again series, so that is why in some of the drawings you never really get to see the character's clothes.
As I continue world-building, I will post again.
Music that goes along with the story-
The story soundtrack (aka music playlist) isn't ready to be posted yet, but I will give you a preview of some of the songs that go along with the story...
Book and a Cover by Suzanne Vega
You can also listen to it here
If I told you what part of the story this song reflects it would be spoiling it.
But let's just say...this talks about something Phoenix has to go through.
And one more song that reminds me of the story (well, more of Phoenix...than the story) is a song
from Les Misérables called Empty Chairs and Empty Tables sung by Eddie Redmayne but I couldn't find a video that was actually officially from the musical/artists,
so I couldn't post it here, but it definitely helps me understand Phoenix's voice...
And just to assure you I don't plan to kill off every character like you may think I have been trying to say.
As I continue to plot this novel, I plan to make more posts about it.

What is your favorite thing to do when plotting novels? Do you work on the world first or the characters? Also do you like to create mythology (or mythologies) for your fantasy worlds? Also do you enjoy doing world building?

This is one of the many theme songs of the story.
To my Dear Friends performed by Erutan
You can also listen to it here
This is a theme song for one of my minor characters.
Howl's Moving Castle Theme

This song first came up in this post , and was the clue that I gave out about the novel.
If this novel were a movie, I would say it is the soundtrack for (part of) the first chapter.
Awake by Kalie Shorr

Introducing Some Characters: Valentine's Day Themed characters
Happy Valentine's Day everyone! :) To celebrate I will be introducing to you some Valentine's Day themed characters:
Alec
A cherub, who hasn't quite yet figured out how to use his love arrows yet,
and has a tendency to shoot his foot and fall in love with random objects, people, and animals. He rather wishes there was such a thing as a love stone, so he could use his slingshot to make people fall in love. Unfortunately none of those exist (yet), so he stuck with a bow and arrow that he doesn't know how to use.
Rosa
Is a sorceress, that specializes in love potions, and has had several desperate people come to her to buy love potions. Unfortunately, she doesn't exactly know what real love is like, and only knows what love potion love is like, which isn't exactly real love.
Selene
She was named after the goddess of the moon (the one long before Artemis, the goddess of the hunt and moon), because she was born during the full moon. Selene is a demigod daughter of the Greek Goddess, Aphrodite. She does not generally like to talk about it, even though her beauty has attracted very many young men, she has no desire to marry and would rather become a priestess of Artemis or Athena, or even join Artemis's hunts.
Vallara
Vallara is an elf druid, who is rather upset about Rosa's illegal usage of love potions. Vallara wants to stop things before they get out of hand, because love potions aren't exactly real love since it's controlling the person who you want to love with a potion. Thankfully Vallara has managed to reverse the potion's effects on the victims, but she still hasn't been able to stop Rosa from making them. Every time she tries to find Rosa she seems to have moved her potion shop by way of magic.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Which character is your favorite? Also, do you have a favorite love song and/or poem?
Love,
Quinley
P.S. I am currently working on a post that is reviewing two movies, so be sure to keep an eye out for that, even though I don't exactly know when I am going to publish it yet.

I Finished a Rough Draft of Tess Short Book One!
Hi everyone, and happy 2019!
I finally finished my first draft of Tess Short Book one!
I began writing this story and posting chapters on this blog in 2016, and finished writing it in 2019, so I've been working on this book for two and a half years. I should also briefly mention that this was one of my first stories, so my writing was slightly different then, than it is now.
I am happy to have written a story with Tess as a main character, and I hope to write the second book, sometime, though not really soon, because another story is calling me.
Also, this story was written for a younger audience than my other books, so in a way it is a children's novel. Another thing I should mention is that in this novel some of the characters are parodies of Lord of the Rings characters. ;)
Synopsis-
Tess Short is a "normal" half elf half hobbit, until she sets off on an adventure to save elves and fairies, who are mysteriously disappearing.
Characters-
Tess
A half elf half hobbit. Who struggles with being one, and sometimes wishes she was only an elf, or only a hobbit.
Lida and Finn
Tess's twin brother and sister, who tend to get into arguments over silly things.
Silena
A dryad princess and warrior, who joins Tess on the quest to figure out why elves and fairies are disappearing.
Robin
The person who told Tess about the disappearance of elves and fairies.
Inny
A half human half hag, who is Robin's best friend.
King Tirfendiel
Tess's uncle, who is king of the Woodland Realm, and has a sword that he carries with him that glows bright green.
Lauralas and George
An elf and a dwarf who are close friends and are members of Eldon's book club.
Thistle
A fairy prince who joins Tess on the quest to figure out why elves and fairies are disappearing.
Eldon
The leader of a book club, who really, really wants to be an elf
and chooses elf related books for the members to read.
Carmen
Eldon's niece who is an half elf, who joined his book club.
Excerpts-
I tried to include excerpts that are recent but don't really spoil the story.
"Oh.” she said, but didn’t seem so convinced, but decided not to ask, sometimes new comers were different in unusual ways, but…he didn’t seem so unusual, maybe, it was just her, but she thought he was elvish in a way with his golden curled hair, and deep blue eyes, but he was a hobbit, so how could he be elvish?
-Chapter 32.
He didn’t catch much of what she said after that except for a few words, “Magic”, “Mistake”, and “Wasn’t my fault” though the last one was three words.
-Chapter 30
You can read the complete first draft here on Wattpad.
The Story Soundtrack-
You can also listen to it here
This was one of the first story soundtracks I created so it has a mix of different songs, including songs from Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, and a few Disney songs.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What was one of your first books you ever finished writing the rough draft of?
-Quinley
P.S. My next novel that I plan to write is a Fantasy novel, and here is one of the songs from the story soundtrack that I am making for it:
You can also listen to it here
That's all I am going to say for now, and you are left to wonder what the story is about. ;)Monday, December 31, 2018
Happy New Year's (+ Favorite posts and other things from 2018)

This is also a favorite song of mine that she made in 2018.
She is actually planning on making an Alice in Wonderland themed album which will be awesome.

I found out about a singer in 2018, called Suzanne Vega,
and I like the style of her music. (Though her music was not released in 2018)
Warmer in the Winter by Lindsey Stirling
You can also listen to it here
I really enjoy this Lindsey Stirling song. Also it is so neat that the music video
had to be filmed all in one take without breaks.
Think of Me from Phantom of the Opera
You can also listen to it here
This is one of the first songs I heard from Phantom of the Opera.
Main titles- Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
You can also listen to it here
I loved the whole soundtrack from Fantastic Beasts,
but I thought that this song sounded very mysterious.
Smoke and Mirrors by Kalie Shorr

Though this is one of Kalie's older songs. I recently found out about it,
and it has become one of my favorites of hers.
(Also it kind of reminds me of my character Lady Annabelle.)

At the time I watched this I had been reading Frankenstein.
Getting Dressed in 1665 Delft
You can also watch it here
This was one of the first videos of theirs that I watched.
Getting Dressed- Dickensian Christmas (1853)
You can also watch it here
I managed to get there in time when this premiered and watched it then.

Introducing some Characters: Holiday themed Characters
Happy Holidays everyone! :)
To celebrate the holidays I thought I should introduce some holiday themed characters (and bring back the Introducing Some Characters series):
She shows up in a story from last year. Representing all the winter holidays, she spreads joy and cheer to everyone who celebrates them. Though her job can be very tiring she manages to find time to do it. (The holidays that are represented on her outfit are Christmas, Hanukah, and Kwanzaa.)
Mistletoe (AKA Niamh)
The Christmas elf????
What is an elf who is skilled in archery and fencing doing working in the north pole?
No one is sure, not even the fairies who work with the Christmas elves, but even though her skills are different from the other elves, she manages to wrap the presents and make them for the children in the most surprising and awesome ways. She also gets very excited about the holidays, but unfortunately at some times she is prone to get nervous about attacks from monsters and is on alert at all times, and to be safe she keeps daggers in her socks.
Alyssa the Reindeer Trainer
Training Santa's reindeer is one of the hardest jobs, and only a fairy who is purest in heart can do it. That's why Alyssa was asked to train them. When she ended up getting the job, her wings were turned magically into beautiful and colorful wings. She dearly loves animals. It is natural for a fairy to love them, but she has been attracted to reindeer the most, and has always wanted to see Rudolph's red nose glow. To train the reindeers how to fly she uses special fairy dust.
Glorfundor
Though he doesn't work as a Christmas elf he lives with Mistletoe (Niamh) and is one of the very few elves who isn't a Christmas elf. He goes on quests around the north pole, is a very quiet person and rarely talks about his adventures.
