Drawing Six Characters (Part Two): Rapunzel

One of the drawing suggestions I was given was Rapunzel. However, I did not want to draw one of the more well known versions of Rapunzel (Tangled or Barbie Rapunzel). Some of my favorite versions of Rapunzel are "Petrosinella" (the Italian version) and Shanon Hale's Rapunzel's Revenge which is set in a fairy tale wild west. 

I remember getting the book from the library when I was young, reading it, and seeing possibilities. While I did not generally like modern retellings (and still do not), Rapunzel's Revenge as a story taught me there could be flexibility and imagination in re-imaginings. 

I did take some liberties with drawing her hair in my own drawing style (by giving her little braids). If you want to see my drawing process, here is the video:

Hello everyone, 

I hope you are having a good July, here are some of my most recent drawings: 

I realized I had never drawn Fiáina in the springtime except for one old drawing. So, I decided that now was the time to draw that. 

I made this for an event in my writing group. It is drawn by one of my characters. 

And though I cannot copy his art style directly, I thought I captured his style well. 

This is a response to the prompt "festival" with Karleon and Ophelia. 
I wanted to create a mysterious atmosphere in the piece.

Hello everyone, 

I hope you are having a good May. Here are some drawings: 

I decided to update my blog's header and continue Arcasia's journey. She is walking down a path and is about to meet the Greek goddess, Artemis. 

This is a drawing of Matilda and the Wax Witch, and was done in response to a prompt titled "ghostly." In the scene, Matilda is unsure whether she is imagining the Wax Witch, or if the witch is real. 

This is a drawing inspired by the prompt "dark and stormy night." It is of Matilda doing Tarot readings-- Inspired by the Etteilla Tarot. 

 

This is a drawing of Genevieve. This scene is partially inspired by illustrations and paintings of the Greek goddess, Demeter, in which she is shrouded with a cloak and looking for her daughter, Persephone/Kore.

Drawing Six Characters (Part one): Mark Caten

 

Hello everyone,
 I hope you are doing well. This post is going to be part of a longer series in which I draw six characters (usually well known ones). And at the end of the series will be a full "gallery" of characters. 

This is a drawing of my friend's antagonist, Mark Caten, from the serial novel, Ambrose and Elsie. While A.J. didn't fully know what he looked like, she gave me permission to draw him based on some reference photos, and to include him in a video and blog post. 😊

I decided to focus on drawing hands and making the wine glass and the clothes the central focus of the piece. In the video below, you can see my process of drawing him:

 Hello everyone!

I hope your 2026 has been good so far. I thought it was time to make a drawing post: 

  This was inspired by a New Year's prompt, "Midnight Kiss." In this, Dorian is about to kiss an unknown woman. Past regrets enter his mind, and he pulls away from her before they can truly kiss...

A singer I like released a song recently, and within the video she did hand-movements I found interesting. So, I decided to make a drawing inspired by one of those poses. This is of Arisias telling the future. 

A portrait of Sebastianos (originally Sebastian). I wanted to redesign his outfit to be more Ancient Greek-like. 

A drawing of Cecile Diggory. I like how her hair turned out.
